Children learn through play. As an occupational therapist who works with children and youth, I use games and toys almost every day to help develop important cognitive, visual perceptual, motor, sensory, social, play and leisure skills. While many different types of activities can be used in therapy, this blog focuses on off-the-shelf games and toys that are accessible to most. Whether you are a therapist, parent, teacher, or a game lover like me, I hope you discover something useful while you are here. Learn a different way to play a game you already own or discover a new game for your next family game night. Either way, just go play. It's good for you!

Pass the PigsTrio

I have long been a fan of the Pass The Pigs games. Now that I am retired, I don't get to go looking for new games. Of course Amazon doesn't know that I'm retired, so they keep adding new games to my feed. This is one of them and I couldn't help but go look.

The thing I like about the three Pass The Pig games that I own, is the tiny size of the pigs and the score pad. Lots of hand skills can be addressed with these games. I will put links to those three games below. Each one has ideas on using them in therapy.

The thing that is intriguing to me about this set, is the overly large size of the pigs. Unfortunately there is no information given in the description as to just how big they are. Below is a picture they uploaded, but I have learned over the years that often these pictures are greatly exaggerated. One thing I often do when I'm not sure about the image is to look at the shipping size. Sometimes that will give you a clue. If they really are this big, that would be a whole other kind of fun.

If anyone has this game or purchases it, drop me a note about the dimensions and I will add it to this post.

Below are the three Pass the Pig games that I have often used and the kids have loved.
