Dot-2-Dot Lacing

Dot-2-Dot Lacing

The cards in the Dot-2-Dot Lacing set are a little different from your general lacing cards. You might even get boys interested in these!

There are six cards, each picturing a different construction vehicle. Numbers on cards range from 1-20 to 1-26. The numbers are not all lined up along the edge, as most lacing cards. It will be important to follow the numbers as the holes can be scattered around the cards. Cards are sturdy cardboard with a glossy finish.

Six plastic-tipped laces are also included. Stitching will be straight stitch, as the laces are not long enough for a whip stitch. Also some of the holes are not on the edge of the card, making a whip stitch more difficult.

This activity also comes in many other themes including enchanted kingdom, alphabet, farm animals, pets, shapes, and bugs.

Try this:
  • Ask the individual to lace without turning over the card, instead feeling for the hole or the lace tip on the backside.
  • Take the opportunity to practice tying knots in the end of the string.
  • Lace backwards and practice counting backwards.
  • Work on visual discrimination, figure ground, spatial relations, eye-hand coordination, sequencing, manual dexterity, pincer grasp, finger strength, in-hand manipulation, fine motor precision, palmar arch support/strength, separation of two side of hand, intrinsic muscle development, tool use, using both hands in a coordinated manner, motor planning, sustained attention, play exploration and participation
In the box: 6 large lacing cards, 6 colored laces
Ages 3-7
