Children learn through play. As an occupational therapist who works with children and youth, I use games and toys almost every day to help develop important cognitive, visual perceptual, motor, sensory, social, play and leisure skills. While many different types of activities can be used in therapy, this blog focuses on off-the-shelf games and toys that are accessible to most. Whether you are a therapist, parent, teacher, or a game lover like me, I hope you discover something useful while you are here. Learn a different way to play a game you already own or discover a new game for your next family game night. Either way, just go play. It's good for you!

Stranger Awareness and Safety Powerpoint
I recently completed a 50 slide PowerPoint on stranger awareness and safety to use with my kids. I'm always looking for different and kid-friendly ways to present this material and I got to thinking who doesn't like a comic? So, each slide in this PowerPoint was created to be a standalone comic, meant to spark conversation and teach safety principles. Sometimes kids will learn what to do in one specific situation, but won't generalize it, so I have included a variety of different situations to cover some of the same principles. For instance, don't get into a car with a stranger also translates to don't get onto a motorcycle, a snowmobile, a boat, or a truck with a stranger either. I have added this PowerPoint to My Teachers Pay Teachers Store..
